MEET THE TEAM
LaTanya Jules is our senior executive director at The Shores at Clearlake. Jules has more than 15 years of experience in the senior living care industry. She has been with The Shores at Clearlake’s management company, Integral Senior Living (ISL), since 2006. Prior to joining ISL, she was the business operations manager for a produce company and was an administrator for an adult dementia program.
Her responsibilities as senior executive director include overseeing the community’s day-to-day operations and team management, hiring all department heads and care staff, and coordinating with ISL’s executive team.
Jules is a certified dementia and mental health trainer and is continuing to pursue an education in care studies. She is dedicated to serving those who entrust her to take care of them and/or their loved ones. “Knowing that I am contributing to something bigger than I am keeps me inspired,” she said.
Vera Steinmetz, our director of Sales and Marketing at The Shores at Clearlake, joins our team with 15 years of marketing experience in the senior living industry. Throughout her career, she has held positions including business office manager, marketing mentor, and regional sales and marketing manager. Prior to joining The Shores at Clearlake community, Steinmetz was the marketing director for The Delaney at South Shore.
As the director of Sales and Marketing, Steinmetz is responsible for creating relationships between the senior living community and the businesses and organizations in and around the Greater Houston area. In addition to attending various community activities and networking events, her day-to-day tasks include helping residents and their families coordinate all aspects of the move-in process, developing annual marketing plans, and organizing marketing visits to the community.
Steinmetz has always been dedicated to her craft in the senior living industry. “I realized my passion for helping the elderly during my time as a certified nurse’s assistant in high school,” Steinmetz said.
Shelly Garrido is our sales and marketing assistant here at The Shores at Clear Lake. Before joining our team, Garrido gained experience across a wide array of fields. Most recently, Garrido worked in the education field, but also has experience in parks and recreation and executive assistance.
In the education field, Garrido held the position of early childhood education principal and teacher for Faith Academy in Gonzales, La., and Westminster Christian Academy in Webster, Texas, respectively. While in these roles, she supervised all aspects on the pre-school, facilitated marketing for special events, and worked with children to help them develop emotionally, academically, spiritually and physically.
During the four years Garrido spent with the City of Pearland Parks and Recreation as its director, she developed and implemented a successful curriculum for preschool classes and numerous classes for children ages 1 to 10 years old, including fitness and nutrition, dance, tumbling, cooking, music, art, and various workshops.
As an executive assistant, Garrido assisted the CEO, president and CFO of SkillMaster, Inc., in Houston with daily operations. She also coordinated business functions, company activities and travel arrangements.
Dwayne Carrington brings over 30 of years of executive culinary experience to the Shores at Clear Lake team. He has held positions such as director of research and development, corporate chef for Alonti Café & Catering, and executive chef and operations manager for Sodexo Corporation.
Carrington started his culinary education at the acclaimed Johnson & Wales University in Providence, R.I. He has also attended programs at the Culinary Institute of America Branded Skills Course in Napa Valley, Calif.
Serving as president of the American Culinary Federation Association Capital District Chapter of New York, he implemented various programs for culinary development for at-risk teens in the Troy, N.Y., school district.
In his commitment to community and service, he and wife Stephanie started a food pantry that served over 200 families in Houston.
Tracey McCord is the resident care director with The Shores at Clear Lake. She brings over eight years of nursing and wound care experience. Prior to joining the team at The Shores at Clear Lake, McCord worked for a number of senior living communities, often more than one at the same time.
At those communities, she held positions such as nurse educator – clinical and theory lead instructor, assistant director of nursing – care plan coordinator, and home health LVN. The positions required McCord to perform a number of tasks giving her a wide range of experience to offer The Shores at Clear Lake team.
No stranger to challenges, McCord is the mother of two sons who are currently on active duty with our United States Navy/Marine Corps.
As the business office director with The Shores at Clear Lake, Isabel Mata manages all aspects of billing, including HR. Prior to joining The Shores at Clear Lake, Mata spent 11 years in a hospital setting as a patient access supervisor in the bay area.
Mata is an accomplished supervisor with a proven ability to manage 19 employees in a high-volume production-oriented work environment.
She was successful in achieving operational and financial performance, implementing strategic planning associated with long-term and short-term goals with a high focus on employee engagement and morale building.
Lance Smith is our Vibrant Life director at The Shores at Clear Lake. Lance was drafted right out of high school by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1996 MLB Draft. When an injury took him away from his love of baseball, he began a career in sales and management. He has over 15 years of experience in successfully running sales teams, event management and employee training. Although he has been very successful in sales and management, his love for creating vibrant memories with his grandmother led him to look for a career that would make him feel as though he was making a difference in the world. Lance feels that he has found that career as the Vibrant Life director at The Shores at Clear Lake Senior Living.
David Strickfaden is our building service director here at The Shores at Clear Lake. David has worked in the maintenance field for more than 20 years. Before joining our team, David worked as the maintenance director for Laurel Court in Alvin, Texas, for three years and at Friendship Haven Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for eight years.
David has always taken great pleasure in being able to provide a safe and efficient environment for residents. He looks forward to continuing that as the building service director at The Shores at Clear Lake.
For more than a decade, Nicole Washington has worked in the nursing field with a specialization in geriatric care. Before joining The Shores at Clear Lake, Nicole worked as a licensed nurse at Meridian Retirement Community and Orchard Grove Care Center. In these roles, Nicole monitored vitals for multiple residents at a time while also overseeing their general care.
At The Shores at Clear Lake, Nicole will serve as the community’s Generations memory care program director. The ISL Generations memory support program follows a philosophy of a person-centered culture where one is a whole person first, the person they were and still are, and not identified by their disease or behaviors.
